Continued... and now on this one, they let me upload more pics. Go figure. :)
Everyone speaks very politely here - even their signs speake politely. No parking signs say "Polite Notice - No Parking"...
This is Abbey Road continued - Amy in front of the studio. The white gates are filled with writing, messages from fans to the Beatles.

After Abbey Road we walked back to the tube and took a train over to King's Cross to try and get a little pic of platform 9 and three quarters. I had seen pictures of it, so I knew that it existed, but I wasn't sure where exactly. I thought all we would have to do was to follow signs to platform 9 and it would be tucked away between 9 and 10. Well getting there is a trek! You have the regular tube station at King's Cross, but then the platforms are at actual cross country train stations. We walked forever and finally found platforms 9 and 10 - but didn't find it! We should have asked.. we almost asked - and then we pictured ourselves, middle-aged American women tracking down something from a children's book. Dang it. BUT I did find a pic of it to post, just pretend like I took it. I have this feeling that we were sooooo close to it. The King's Cross pic is mine - the other, with the cart going through the wall, is not.
BUT we did find Diagon Alley! Yay! We found something! We walked all through King's Cross again and found the tube stop - then walked forever looking for Charing Cross. It was a nice little theatre district with a very active "sqaure". In this picture is Cecil Court, the place that was the basis for the shopping area in the movies and books. It's a quaint little area with a ton of antique book shops. We stepped in to one and looked around for a while.
After all this walking our feet were hating us. We headed back home - watched a little tv (an odd game show called The Chaser), and took a short nap. Also saw some British "Millionaire" show and laughed at ourselves. One of the fastest finger questions was to put these sports in order by the number of rounds played... it was all British sports and one was like FQ or something (which of course only has one round). Well rested - we wantd to have a pint at the pub across the street. We found a cute table with leather club chairs and scanned the menu but got no service. Here you order at the bar, pay at the time you order, and then have a seat and they'll bring it around to you. We kind of liked that idea because when you're done you just go, no waiting for the check. Susan Givens had told us to avoid having the burgers here at all cost - well that intrigued Patti, she wanted to try one. It's pictured here - Patti said it was alright, just more well done than our burgers, not juicy. The best part was the beer. Amy had an italian beer that was really good - maybe we'll find it in Italy - and Patti and I had the apple cider ale, and we finally found the ice in London, not in the water, but in our pints.

So tonight is our last night in London baby - we check out tmw at 11am, and fly out of here at 2pm for Rome! So far it hasn't really felt like we were in a foreign country - feels more like New York in many ways with all the different languages around us. Our biggest communication barrier has been with the wait staff that aren't British - seems to be a lot of french servers that aren't used to American accents. But tmw we'll be in Italy, and our apt is only a couple of blocks from the Colloseum. Can't wait!
Ohhh how interesting that they put ice in their beer and not in their water. That's great that you were able to find the apple cider beer there too!!!!
